Eugene C. Forsberg, 86, of Hibbing, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.  Eugene was born to Henry and Katherine (Ramponi) Forsberg in Eveleth on March 8, 1931.  Eugene married Katherine (Wirtz) Forsberg on August 20, 1955 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk.  He kept himself very busy with several clubs and organizations.   Eugene was an avid rock and agate collector and a member of the Rock Club, he was also a member of the Hibbing Moose Club, and VFW Post 8510 of Hibbing, along with the Memorial Building coffee club.  Eugene enjoyed fishing, hunting, walking in the woods, photographing flowers, word searches, and puzzles.  He loved sports, Eugene played hockey in both high school and college, and enjoyed watching girl’s hockey.  He was also an avid Twins fan over the years.

Eugene is survived by his wife Katherine (Wirtz) Forsberg of Hibbing, his daughters Patty Jo Lennartson of Walla Walla, WA., and Pamela (Joseph) Anderson of Billings, MT., two grandchildren: Jessica (Jason) Doty of Cle Elum, WA. and Stevie Lennartson of Los Angeles, CA.,  four, great grandchildren: Cameron, Cheyenne, Allison and Hunter, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Henry Charles and Oliver, two grandchildren Mathew Worlie and Cheryl Worlie, and sons-in-law Brian Lennartson, and Scott Worlie.

Funeral services for Eugene will be held at 11:00 am Friday June 16, 2017 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Hibbing.  The Rev. Fr. Nick Nelson will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday June 15, 2017 at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing with recitation of the rosary at 7:30 pm.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Friday.  Interment will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.  Military Honors will be accorded by the Mid Range Honor Guard.  Services are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
