Robert Arnold Fridlund, Sr.
Robert A. Fridlund, Sr., 83, Hibbing, died Tuesday February 14, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.  He was born in Hibbing on August 25, 1928, to Paul and Lillian Fridlund.   Robert graduated from Hibbing High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War.  He worked as a welder and truck driver for US Steel and had been a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and VFW Post 8510, Hibbing.  Robert was united in marriage to Sulpicia on April 6, 1979.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sul, of Hibbing; 5 children:  Lillian (Tom) Simonson of Hibbing, Bob (Ronda) Fridlund of Hibbing, Juean Fridlund of Minneapolis, Connie Barry of Hibbing, and Paul Fridlund of Hibbing; 3 step-children:  Alex Fridlund of Hibbing, Nancy (Vince) Larson of Stillwater, MN, and Jim Fridlund of California; 12 grandchildren:  Tom Simonson, Jason Simonson, Courtney Barry, Crissa Paolo, Tim Paolo, Devin Fridlund, Matthew Fridlund, Mauricio Fridlund,  Mercedes Fridlund, and Maria Fridlund.  Robert was preceded in death by his parents and two step-children, Ramond and Amy.
At Robert’s request, a private family funeral service will be held at Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.  Interment with full military honors accorded by VFW Post 8510 of Hibbing will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing.   To sign the online guest book, please visit www.doughertyofhibbing.com
