Alice Elvi (Alto) Quirk
Alice Elvi (Alto) Quirk, 70, Hibbing, died peacefully, after a fierce three month struggle with injuries sustained in a house fire, Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Essentia Miller Dwan Medical Center in Duluth. She was born in Chisholm to Allan and Elvi (Puukila) Alto on August 28, 1942. Alice graduated from Bemidji State with a degree in teaching. She dedicated 53 years to childcare; to include working at Headstart in Eveleth, Mesaba Child Care, Quad City Day Care, private day care, and ended her working career with over 25 years at Kiddy Karousel.
Alice is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Quirk) Carter, Hibbing, Carolle Quirk- Britton, Virginia, grandchildren, Brian, Jesse (Paula) and Josh (Felicia) Carter, all of Hibbing, James (Abby) Britton, St. Cloud, Lacey Thompson (Nick) Romie, Moorhead, Shawn Johnson, Eveleth, special family friend, Maria DeMars, Hibbing, great grandchildren, Lilyianna, Aleigha, Arianna, Crystian, Jessica, and Reese, her sister, Ardelle (Alto) Elj, Virginia, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Quirk, son, Brian Quirk, siblings, Arlene and Arthur, and her parents.
Memorial services will be held at Church of Christ, Hibbing on, Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 1:00p.m. with a visitation starting at Noon. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
