Allan W. Hoppel
Allan W. Hoppel, 72, Hibbing, formerly of Longview, WA died Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at St. Rafael’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth, MN. He was born January 31, 1946 to Aage and Helen Marie Marcella (Gill) Hoppel in Longview, WA. After school Allan proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was enlisted for over four years, and spent 19 months in Vietnam as a Maintenance Engineer. He had been a resident of the Iron Range area for the past 10 years, coming from Longview, WA. He married Suzan Porter on July 23, 2003 in Longview. He was a lifetime member of D.A.V. Allan’s pastimes included fishing, and model railroads, but his latest passion was creating blueprints for a newly designed paddle boat that he was in the process of inventing.
He is survived by his wife, Suzan Hoppel, Hibbing, children, Matthew Maroste, Bryan, TX, and Kristina (Shane) Kangas, Cherry, MN, five grandchildren, Alivia Rantala, Ocala, FL, Darien Schallert-Maroste, Eveleth, MN, Landon Haugen, Kiyrah Kangas, and Danyka Kangas, all of Cherry, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
Allan was preceded in death by one brother, and his parents, Aage and Helen Marie Marcella Hoppel.
Per Allan’s request, there will be no services at this time. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing at a later date. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
