Allen Alten Johnson
Allen A. Johnson, 82, Pengilly, died Tuesday November 1, 2011, at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, MN. He was born in Winger, MN on December 12, 1928, to John and Alida Johnson. Allen and Mary Jane Farrell were united in marriage on April 12, 1949, in Hibbing and had lived in Pengilly since 1952. He was a shovel runner for M.A. Hanna Mining Company, retiring from National Steel. Allen enjoyed his morning coffee group at the Pengilly Community Center.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Jane Johnson, of Pengilly; a son, Jeff (Carilyn) Johnson of Pengilly; 2 grandchildren, Christopher Johnson of Chisholm and Michele (Justin) Motherway of Brainerd; a great-granddaughter, Caelan Motherway; a brother, Arlie “Biddy” (Judy) Johnson of Brook Park, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Allen was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Alden and Milo Johnson.
At Allen’s request, there will be a private family visitation and graveside service. Interment will be in Nashwauk Cemetery, Nashwauk. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home,Hibbing.
