Allen Gene Rootes

Allen Gene Rootes, 63, Hibbing, died Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Essentia St. Mary’s in Duluth.  He was born in Hibbing to Raymond and Patricia (Rotar) Rootes on May 29, 1953.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his place in Effie.  He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was employed at the Hibbing Public Utilities until retiring in 2015 with over 40 years of service.

Allen is survived by his mother, Patricia Rootes, Hibbing, four siblings, Rose (Mike) Javorina, Nashwauk, Janet (Bob) Rootes, Aurora, Patrick (David) Rootes, New Hope, and Ida (Larry) Meyer, Hibbing, his sister in law, Sandra Rootes, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father Raymond and brother, Joseph Rootes.

Gathering of family and friends will be held from Noon to 2:00 pm. on Thursday, February 23, 2017 in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
