Angelo “Angie” Paolo
Angelo “Angie” Paolo, 91, Hibbing, died Friday, November 8, 2013, at Cornerstone Villa Nursing Home, Buhl. He was born at home in Kitzville on Sept. 19, 1922, to Italian immigrants Frank and Carmina (DeNucci) Paolo. He graduated from Hibbing High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a crew member aboard a B-17 bomber. Angie and Eileen Pulford were united in marriage on Nov. 13, 1943 in Sioux Falls, SD and they made their home in Hibbing, where Angie owned and operated Paolo Oil Co. from 1958—2008. He was a licensed pilot for many years and had owned many aircraft. He loved being at the airport with his flying buddies and also having lunch with his childhood friends.
He is survived by four children: Carmin (Jim) Simerly of Maryville, TN, Toni (Bill) Bonach of Hibbing, David Paolo of Hibbing, and Jean Paolo of Hibbing; two grandchildren, Jimmy Simerly and Misty Newman; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen, on June 13, 1987; by his parents; and by brothers Nick, Tony, John, and Mike Paolo.
