Ann M. Tromp
Ann M. Tromp, 94, of Hibbing, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Friday, December 21, 2012. She was born on February 11, 1918 to John and Mary (Nekich) Biondich in Gilbert, MN. She was a resident of Carson Lake and Hibbing for 64 years. She was a 1937 graduate of the Hibbing High School.
After graduation, Ann served her country during WWII as part of the Women’s Army Corps (WAC), a women’s division within the ranks of the United States Army. She was a general clerk for the Sq D 3508th AAF Base Unit at Truax Field in Wisconsin and proudly served her country for over two years. After the War, Ann found work as a general clerk for Northwest Airlines. In 1945 she married Robert Tromp and they made their home in Kelly Lake. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Kelly Lake, and after St Anne’s closed, she attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Keewatin. She was a member of St. Anne’s Church Circle, the Carmelites, the Kelly Lake Women’s Group for 30 years, and a life member of the DAV. In her youth Ann was a sports enthusiast and avid sports fan. She enjoyed volleyball, and she bowled for over 30 years in which she was proud of bowling a total spare game.
Ann enjoyed entertaining and always welcomed friends and family around a home-cooked meal. Baked goods and preserves were always plentiful. She shared in Robert’s love of gardening and always had a floral arrangement on display.
Her love of family was evident in her thoughtful, kind and generous ways. She cherished her time spent with her three grandchildren and enjoyed following their various activities.
She is survived by her son, Jeff (Becky) Tromp, Hibbing, her daughter-in-law, Nancy Tromp, Papillion, NE., her sister-in-law Doris Biondich, Visalia, CA., and three grandchildren; Nathan, Lauren, and Emily, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, William Tromp, her husband, Robert Tromp in 2005, her parents, John and Mary (Nekich) Biondich, three brothers, John, Melvin, and Mark Biondich, and a sister, Mary Zegar.
Funeral services for Ann will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Dennis Hoffman will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. Pallbearers are; Charles Day, Mitchell Day, Anthony Day, Samuel Day, and Peter Day. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
