Anthony “Tony” F. Constantini
Anthony “Tony” Constantini, 92, Hibbing, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 in Hibbing. Tony was born June 13, 1922 in North Hibbing to Bernadino and Teresa Constantini. As a young man Tony worked for the Hibbing Tribune delivering newspapers and then typesetting. He worked for a short time for the Oliver Mining Co. before serving in the US Army during World War II. He served overseas and was discharged as a staff sergeant. He returned to Hibbing where he met and married his wife, Constance O’Brien. Together they raised 3 children and enjoyed their 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Tony had returned to the Oliver Mining Co. where he worked as a machinist. In 1984 he retired from US Steel after 42 years on the job.
Tony was an avid fisherman, taught to him from his father which he continued with his family. He loved bowling in his regular leagues and in the Senior Citizen league. He was a member of the VFW Post 8510 and the US Steelworkers Local 1938.
He is survived by his wife Constance, his children Paulette (Doug Hanson), Richard Constantini and Tammy (Steve) Allison all of Hibbing, grandchildren Missy (John) Heise, Heidi Hanson, Tony (Jessica) Hanson, Michael Allison and Sarah Allison and his great grandchildren Tiffany Ide, and Morgan , Bazel and Evan Hanson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 12014 in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Hibbing. Visitation will be in the church, Friday from 10 am until service time. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing. Pallbearers are: Ed Constantini, Doug Hanson, Tony Hanson, Richard Constantini, Steve Allison, Michael Allison, John Heise.
