Antoinette M. Cook
Antoinette M. Cook, 80, lifelong resident of Keewatin, MN, died peacefully on January 19, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born on December 19, 1932 to Anton and Katherine (Dragich) Mudrovich in Keewatin. She married William Cook and they made their home in Keewatin where she was a librarian for the Keewatin Public Library for 21 years. It was a job she loved. She was member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the VFW Post 5516 Ladies Auxiliary and was past president of St. Bernadette’s Circle. Antoinette volunteered with the Keewatin Senior Citizens and also was a member of the Keewatin Centennial Committee. She was known for her passion for taking care of wild and tame animals and her love for the outdoors. An avid outdoors person, Antoinette loved to walk in the woods, search for agates, uncovering antique bottles, searching for fossile and wild aspergas, and thoroughly enjoyed picking berries and mushrooms, but most of all, she loved seeing her grand and great-grand children grow. She was a fantastic cook and was known to have made the best potica’s in the world and also enjoyed reading. She was a woman with a wealth of knowledge.
She is survived by her children William Cook of Hibbing, MN, Thomas Cook of Keewatin, Jaclyn (Richard Leino) Cook of Duluth, MN and Christine (Mike) Culliton of Keewatin, a brother George Mudrovich of Wausau, WI, a sister Stephanie Rajkovich of Keewatin, 8 grandchildren; Carissa (Matt) Jivery, St. Cloud, MN., J.R. (Kyla) Burgess, St. Cloud, MN., Bobby (Mandy) Burgess, Hibbing, Jesse Cook, Tuscon, AZ., Briana Cook, Hibbing, Kala Cook, St. Cloud, MN., Alex Cook, Hibbing, and Alia Cook, Hibbing, 6 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband William Cook in 1964, her parents, Anton and Katherine, her 2 brothers, 3 sisters and a grandson Adam Cook. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Heritage Manor in Chisholm for their kindness and wit, especially, Luke and Robbin. A special thank you also, to Northstar Hospice for their support, kindness and good humor with a special thanks to Sara and Lara.
Funeral services for Antoinette will be at 11:00am, Friday, January 25, 2013 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk. The Rev. Dennis Hoffman will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.
