Barbara Eleanor Barnhill, age 78, of Nashwauk passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. She was born November 6,1946, to Earl Vincent and Eleanor Wineke in Baltimore, MD. Barbara grew up in Owings Mills, Maryland where she met the love of her life George Barnhill, Sr. She was a mother of ten and a homemaker. Barb enjoyed reading, listening to Celtic Thunder, playing ping pong, cooking, baking, canning, lawn décor, setting up her holiday village at Christmas, helping at Church activities – Awana Clubs and Vacation Bible School. She loved spending time with family and most of all drinking coffee and bird watching on the back porch with her Husband George, who she was married to for 62 ¾ years.
Barbara is survived by her two brothers both of Reisterstown, MD, Earl (Robyn) Wineke Jr. and Randall (Sherry) Wineke; children, Ginny (Jack) Carlson Jr. of Hibbing, Mary Brklich of Maryland, Dorothy (Steve) Lindquist of Pengilly, Dee (Tim) Gatz of Faribault , George (Sheila) Barnhill, Jr. of Nashwauk, Barb (Jeremy) Nelson of Hibbing, Liz (Brian) Henry of Nashwauk, Becky Barnhill of Arizona, Rachel Arnold of Ohio; 26 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband George, daughter Pat Barnhill, and grandson Jacob Barnhill.
Funeral Services for Barb will be held at 11:00 am January 21, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Hibbing, MN. Pastor Greg Stevens will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am at the Church on Tuesday. Interment will be held at Nashwauk Cemetery in Nashwauk, MN.
