Barbara Jean Geiselman

Barbara J. Geiselman, age 96 of Hibbing, MN, passed away peacefully at Guardian Angels in Hibbing on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.  She was born in Hibbing on August 6, 1926 to Clyde and Louise (Cousineau) Hogg.  Barb grew up in the Penobscot Mining Location and graduated from Hibbing High School (1944).  She worked for a short time as one of the first telephone operators in Hibbing.  Soon after, her future husband returned from serving in the military overseas and they were married (1950).  They were married for nearly 70 years!  In 1952, they began building their forever home on Stuntz Drive while also starting a family.  Throughout Barb’s life, faith was important to her, and she demonstrated this as a devout member of St. Leo's Catholic Church.  She volunteered her time teaching Catechism at St. Leo's and volunteering with residents at Guardian Angels.  Barb loved spending time at their longtime family cabin on Beauty Lake with all of her family.  She made it to the lake for the opening of fishing until 95 years old!  She enjoyed spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens.  Barb line danced and attended her Silver Sneakers group until 90+ years old until it became a coffee social with her friends.  She was an amazing lady and will be greatly missed.

Barb is survived by her children: Terry (Annette) Geiselman and Becky (Mike) Fenstermacher, Daughter-in-Law: Cindy Geiselman, Brother: Clyde (LaVerne) Hoag, Grandchildren: Brooke (Pat), Brody, Brittany (Rory), Jacqui (Steve), Nikki, Jamie (Nick), Jesse (Kelly) and Joey (Kira), Great Grandchildren: Oliver, Elsie, Delaney, Andi, Josie and Owen and dear friends, especially: Mary Ellen Suhonen, Antoinette Dilley and Marge Majerle.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband (Pat), Son (Patrick) and Siblings: June Hogg and Maxine Paver. 

The family would like to extend a thank you to the Fairview Hospice crew for their wonderful care.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing.  Deacon Richard Johnston will officiate.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial starting at 10:00AM.
