Barbara Iorio

Barbara Carol Iorio (nee Leppa, Alder), age 79, of Smithville, MO was
called home on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2023 surrounded by
family. Barbara was born in Los Angeles and grew up in North Hollywood, CA.
She spent several years in Santa Barbara, CA, where she met and married
Edward Iorio. They raised their family in Santa Barbara and Atascadero,
CA, where she lived until her move to Smithville, MO in 2006 to be near
their grandchildren. Barbara worked as a dental assistant and later worked
at the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant in the security office. She then
established her own medical transcription business for psychologists, which
she ran until retirement. Barbara had a lifelong fondness of animals and thoroughly enjoyed her
involvement in 4-H with her sons. They raised cattle, pigs, turkeys,
chickens and always had a family dog. Barbara's great love was her family
and she was a most devoted grandmother to her nine grandchildren. She
was a member of the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church.
Barbara is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Edward;
mother, Margaret Paul (nee Lindstrom); father, George Alder; and
stepfather, Harland Paul. She is survived by her three children, Debra
(Michael) Gearin of Ramona, CA, David (Rebekah O’Reilly) Iorio of
Sydney, AUS, and Donald (Sarah) Iorio of Smithville, MO; nine
grandchildren, Alec (Sydney Laakso) Iorio, Mia Iorio, Audrey Iorio, Max
Iorio, Jon Iorio, Aidan Iorio, William Iorio, Andrew Iorio, and Gracie Cook;
sister, Eloise (John) Cook; many nieces and nephews; and a large family of
brothers and sisters in faith.

Funeral services  will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 11 AM at the
Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, 8038 Cedar Valley Rd,
Floodwood, MN 55736. Visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow at Cedar
Valley Cemetery in Floodwood, MN.
