Barbara Jean Schmidt, 84, lifelong Hibbing Resident died Saturday, August 5, 2017 in Hibbing.  She was born in Duluth  to Walter and Dorothy (Sherman) Hultquist on January 12, 1933.  Barbara enjoyed camping, needlepoint, baking and mostly her family and friends. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church
She will be missed by her children, Joann (Rick) Koziol, Carol Olson, and Jean (Mark) Cheney, all of Hibbing, sister, Suzanne (Mike) Theis, in Michigan, brother, Scott (Cindy) Sherman, Aitkin, MN, 5 grandchildren, Cody and Kyle Koziol, and Daulton, Travis, and Sarah Balstad, 2 step grandchildren, Max and Bruno Cheney, and many nieces and nephews.  Barbara was preceded in death by husband, Carl Schmidt, siblings, Jerry Hultquist and Kim Sherman, and son-in-law Rusty Olson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Beau Braun celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will in Church on Wednesday beginning at 9:30 am. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
