Beatrice J. Wherland , 87, Hibbing, died peacefully with family by her side on Friday, January 15, 2016, at Guardian Angels Health Care Center, Hibbing. She was born in Hibbing on May 30, 1928, to Jack and Hilda (Juntunen) Leino. Beatrice attended Hibbing Schools and was united in marriage to John Wherland on March 14, 1947. She was a homemaker who made family her number one priority. Beatrice was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
She is survived by seven children: Carol Talikka of Defiance, OH, Diane (Chuck) Bainter of Iron, MN, Maureen Wherland of Hibbing, John (Marilyn) Wherland of Hibbing, Patrick Wherland of Lacey, WA, Daniel (Stacy) Wherland of Hibbing, and David (Karen Jerulle) Wherland of Hibbing; by three sisters-in-law: Patricia Capanoli, Mary Wherland, and Marcy Aslakson, all of Hibbing; by 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 2001; by a son, Michael Wherland, in 1983; by her parents; by a brother, Raymond Leino; and by five sisters: Edna, Alma, Gertrude, Effadore, and Luverne.
