Bernard “Bernie” G. Sydow, 75, Hibbing, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at Heritage Manor in Chisholm. He was born to Frank and Stella (Young) Sydow, August 23, 1943 in Hines, MN. Bernie was a 60 year resident of Hibbing. He attended Liberty University. Bernie was a member of the Keewatin American Legion and a 10 year member of the Guidians Club. Bernie was an insulator by trade and a member of the local 49’s union for 50 years. Following his work with the union Bernie started Northern Mechanical Insulators, which he owned and operated and has been retired the last ten years. Bernie was an avid fisherman and loved the pristine outdoors. He was known for tapping maple trees around Hibbing to make homemade maple syrup. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Stella, and two sisters, June Rollogas, and Annette Andreas. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, children, Dusty (Amber) Sydow, Coral Beach, FL., Toni (Lee) Roberts, Meriden, KS, Angie (Mark) Cothren, Alma, GA, Sam (Karen) Sydow, Nashwauk, Troy Perkins, Hibbing, Paul Perkins Phoenix, AZ, and Leah (Perkins) Thayer, Hibbing, siblings, Grace Victorino, CA, Les (Betty) Sydow, Black Duck, MN, Geanette Ferdig, Blackduck, MN, Lilly Sydow, Omaha, NE, Isy Potter, Omaha, NE and Vernon (Cynthia), Phoenix, AZ, 21 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 2:00 Saturday November 24, 2018 at the Abundant Life Church in Hibbing. Visitation will be 6-8 Friday, November 23 at Dougherty Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the services at church. Interment Maple Hill Cemetery.
