Bernice A. Stimac
Bernice A. Stimac, 97, Hibbing, died Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Guardian Angels Heath Care Center, Hibbing. She was born Sept. 28, 1917, in North Hibbing to Edward and Anna Kaiser. She graduated from Hibbing High School in 1935, and from Hibbing Junior College. She worked in her father’s grocery store, Kaiser’s Grocery, and also ran the branch post office in North Hibing for six years. During World War II, Bernice and her sister managed Bugliosi’s Grocery Store. She and John “Jack” Stimac were united in marriage at Camp Roberts, CA in 1943. After the war, they lived in California where they ran a grocery store with Bernice’s parents. They eventually returned to Hibbing, where Bernice and Jack owned Shop Right Grocery Store on First Avenue for 15 years. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Bernice loved working crossword puzzles and was a member of four bridge clubs. She and Jack enjoyed their cabin and Swan Lake for over 50 years and they enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, in 2013; by her parents; a sister, Lorraine DeBernardi; and a brother, Jack Kaiser.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing. To leave on online message of condolence, please visit www.doughertyofhibbing.com
