Bernice A. Tardy, 86, Nashwauk died Monday, October 13, 2014 at her home with family by her side. She was born on February 13, 1928 to John and Gladys (Clapp) Littler in Bemidji, MN. She married Al Tardy on October 30, 1948 in Bemidji, MN. Bernice was a school bus driver with ISD 319 for 35 years, A&B Bussing and Hoglands Bussing Co. Bernice baked beautiful cakes for weddings, was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nashwauk and was an avid fan of stock car racing, especially watching her son, Loran and grandson’s Jeff and Loran Jr. Bernice loved the color red—if you wish, wear something red to the service.
She is survived by her children; Harlan (Sharon) Tardy, Loran (Diane) Tardy, and Denise (Vincent) Hill, all of Nashwauk, MN, ten grandchildren, John (Stephanie) Tardy, Lori Ann (Bay) Shock, Harlan Jr. (Becky) Tardy, Chad (Heather) Tardy, Jeff (Stacy) Tardy, Heather (Roger) Pogorelc, Tiffany (Brian) Maki, Loran Jr. Tardy, Mickey Jr. (Liana) Hill, and Eric (Alicia) Tardy, 24 great-grandchildren, ten brothers and sisters; Beatrice (Kendal) Kolkin, and Floyd (Donna) Littler, both of Babbitt, MN, Clifford (Faith) Littler, Cass Lake, MN, Roy (Alice) Littler, Nashwauk, MN, Vera Cooper, Rochert, MN, Vernon (Sharon) Littler, Biwabik, MN, Vona (Gene) Tardy, Nashwauk, MN, Gladys (Harlan) Jensen, Maple Lake, MN, Charlotte (Al) Jackson, Lake Park, MN, and John (Sherry) Littler, Cass Lake, MN, and her special friend, Cecil Richards, Kelly Lake, MN.
Funeral services for Bernice will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Pengilly United Methodist Church in Pengilly. The Rev. Dawn Houser will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in the Ten Lakes Township Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
