Blanche Marie (St. Lawrence) Birch
Blanche M. Birch, 78, Hibbing, formerly of Chisholm, died Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. She was born in Chisholm, MN on May 5, 1935 to Omar and Helen (Wegener) St. Lawrence. Blanche graduated from Chisholm High School in 1953, and was united in marriage to James Birch on July 18, 1953. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hibbing and a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Chisholm, where she was active in the church ladies guild, having been a past president. She loved flowers, gardening, knitting, playing cards, casino trips, and bingo.
She is survived by three daughters: Dianne Hawes of Aloha, OR, Valerie (Randy) Erven of Grand Rapids, MN, and Marie (Kenneth) Tolonen of Balkan, MN; two sons, Michael (Cathy) Birch of Twin Lakes, MN and Gregory (Suree) Birch of St. Helens, OR; a brother, Omar St. Lawrence of Gilbert, MN; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 2011; a daughter, Sandra Hanegmon; her parents and a brother, Maurice St. Lawrence.
Visitation will be Monday July8, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church, Hibbing, from 9 AM until the 10 AM funeral service. Interment will be in the Chisholm Cemetery, Chisholm.
