Bonnie Jo Tebo
Bonnie Jo Tebo, 57, of Hibbing, MN, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, after a courageous 26-year battle with breast cancer. Surrounded by her loving family, she spent her final days in the warmth of the love she had given so generously throughout her life.
Born on April 11, 1967, in Hays, KS, Bonnie grew up in Boulder, CO, excelling in academics and leadership. She earned a degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Fort Hays University, where she discovered her passion for early childhood education.
From 1988 until 2019, Bonnie was married to Brad Felix, and together they raised four children: Britni, Bailey, Bryten, and Baker. Bonnie embraced motherhood wholeheartedly, cherishing every milestone and later finding immense joy in her role as a devoted “Gaga” (grandmother).
At 32, Bonnie was diagnosed with breast cancer, but she refused to let it define her. Instead, it shaped her—into a mother who fought to be present for her children, a woman who refused to let fear dictate her choices, and ultimately, a nurse who understood firsthand the vulnerability of being a patient. Determined to turn her experience into purpose, she graduated with her nursing degree in 2008. Her cancer journey gave her a depth of empathy, quiet strength, and fierce determination that no textbook could teach.
Although her family moved frequently for Brad’s career, Bonnie made a home wherever she lived, building strong communities and lifelong friendships. Bonnie’s resilience, humor, and kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She is survived by her four beloved children: Britni (Josh) Koschak of Hibbing, MN; Bailey (Sara) Felix of Eveleth, MN; Bryten Felix of Boulder, CO; and Baker Felix of Hibbing, MN. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Emett, Hudson, and Scotti Koschak, and Jordy and Collins Felix. She is also survived by her siblings Brenda, Brad, Brandilyn and Shane Tebo and her mother Elaine King and father Stephen Tebo.
