Carol Ann Jakich

Carol Ann Jakich, 79, of Hibbing, MN, passed away on December 14, 2016. She was born August 10, 1937 In Gary (Lake Station), Indiana to William and Lillian (Patterson) Thorgren. She married John Jakich on October 31, 1957. Carol was an avid seamstress and quilter, working in local fabric stores for many years. She sent boxes of homemade baby quilts to St. Jude’s and other Children’s Hospitals every year. Many have benefited from her wonderful sewing skills. She had a kind heart and a compassionate soul and was devoted to her family and grandchildren. The family would like to thank all those at St. Luke’s, Lakeview for taking care of Carol in her final days.

Carol is survived by her husband, John; children Tracy Guest of Chandler, AZ and Diane (Matt) Rau of Albuquerque, NM; her grandchildren: Jaden Guest, Cassidy Rau, Dylan Rau, and Danika Rau; and a sister, Evelyn MacDonald.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William Thorgren; and her sister, Dorothy Zimmer.

Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing from 5:30 PM until the 6:30 PM funeral service.
