Carol J. Rice, 80, Shakopee, formerly of Hibbing died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Friendship Manor in Shakopee, MN. Carol was born on March 28, 1936 to Arthur and Margaret H. (Souvetski) Zirk in Chicago, IL. Carol was employed as a secretary for American Family Insurance for many years. She was a former member of First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Some of her favorite pastimes throughout her life were bowling, volleyball and line dancing.
She is survived by her five children, Terry (Toni) Rice, Elko, MN, Mark (LeAnn Ronson) Rice, Eagan, MN, Kris (Sharon) Rice, Deer River, MN, Shawn (Shelley) Rice, Bloomington, MN, and Kandi (Scott Benz) Scheurer, Shakopee, MN, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and extended beloved family, Karen Arko Rice, Angie Rice, William Scheurer, and Risa Moen Rice. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Margaret Zirk.
Funeral services for Carol will be 2:00pm, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. The Rev. Bruce Dissell will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Saturday. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.
