Carol Montgomery
Carol Montgomery, 77, Hibbing, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 22, 2014, in her home. She was born in Bemidji, MN on May 27, 1937, the eldest of eight children born to Clifford and Olivia Moberg. Carol grew up in Bemidji and had lived in Hibbing for many years. She was a member of Hibbing Christian Assembly Church and a volunteer counselor at Crisis Pregnancy Center in Hibbing. Carol was an ordained pastor and deaconess. She was a lifelong Sunday school teacher and she led numerous weekly bible studies in her home and at area nursing homes.
She is survived by eight children: Bryan Montgomery of Hibbing, Linda Walker of Hibbing, Ronda (Bob) Fridlund of Hibbing, David (Patty) Montgomery of Aurora, Laura (Mark) Swehla of Pillager, MN, Petra (Charlie) Steaderman of Burnsville, Jacob (Crissy) Montgomery of Coon Rapids, MN, and Joann Montgomery of Burnsville; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five siblings: Ernie (Alice) Moberg of Watrous, NM, Ken Moberg of Hibbing, Royal (Willard) Koskela of Hibbing, Merry (Bob) Carlson of Iron, and Joyce (Larry) Warwas of Iron; two sisters-in-law, Arline and Kathy; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, James “Monty” Montgomery; a daughter, Gayle Montgomery; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Walker and Kaitlyn Walker; two brothers, Leland and Calvin Moberg; and by her parents.
Visitation will be Monday, August 25, 2014, from 5—7 PM in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Funeral service will be 11 AM on Tuesday August 26, 2014, at Open Door Church, Hibbing. The Rev.
