Charles R. “Ron” Kingsbury and Carol Ann Kingsbury


Carol Ann (Kaminen) Kingsbury, 76, Keewatin, died Thursday, October 25th, 2012 at Fairview Range University Medical Center-Mesabi, Hibbing. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles R “Ron” Kingsbury by just 51 days as he passed away on September 5th, 2012 at Guardian Angels Health Care Center in Hibbing at the age of 79. Carol was born on October 15, 1936 at Hibbing General Hospital to Pary and Maryan Kaminen. Ron was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Sept. 4, 1933 to Charles and Avis Kingsbury. Ron attended school in his younger years in Milwaukee. He moved to Keewatin at the age of 14 for a few years and met Carol at that time. He returned to Milwaukee for his senior year in high school, graduating from Riverside High School. Carol spent her entire school years and graduated from Keewatin High School. Ron then moved back to Keewatin and got a job at Hanna after attending junior college in Hibbing. Ron and Carol were reunited back in Keewatin. They were married at the Congregation of the Good Shepherd Church on September 11, 1954. Carol worked for Dr. Kruger in Nashwauk as an X-ray technician and worked at the Hibbing hospital as a medical transcriptionist. Ron then got a job at Hanna Mining Company. After 31 years at Hanna, he retired and they moved to Arizona in 1985. They resided in Queen Valley for the next 21 years. During that time while Ron was enjoying his retirement, Carol returned to school and worked as a chemical dependency counselor. They later moved back to Keewatin in 2006 to be close to their family. Ron was a member of the Nashwauk Masonic Lodge, and the Shriners. He was a worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star and Job’s Daughters board member, the Democratic Chairman of Pinal County, AZ, and a volunteer member of the Queen Valley Fire Dept. He was also a member of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Posse, the Keewatin American Legion and the Keewatin Police Commission. Carol was a member of Eastern Star and her Church circle. They both were very active with the Itasca County DFL.
They are survived by their daughter, Colleen Smith of Asheville, NC; their sons, Perry (Sherry) Kingsbury of Keewatin, MN; and Andy (Lucy & Midgie) Kingsbury of Cloverdale, MN; a brother, Tom Kingsbury of Milwaukee, WI; a sister, Diane Tupper, of Ridgecrest, CA; 8 grandchildren: Amanda Kingsbury, Madeline (Keith) Melton, Samantha (Casey) Moberg, Raylene Kingsbury, Jon Warmbold, Darren Warmbold, Lindsey Kingsbury and Luke Kingsbury; and 3 great-grandchildren: Hunter, Brody, and Charlotte; their beloved dog, Midgie; and several nieces and nephews. They are preceded in death by their parents, and their son, Charles ”Chuck” Kingsbury. They were followed in death by their son in law Dan Smith on October 28, 2012.
The family would like to give a very special Thank You to the staff of the Fairview Range Hospital ER, ICU and 3rd floor; Care-A-Van Transportation; Dr, Anthony Gonzales, Dr. Mark Wagner, Dr. Jennifer Pedersen, Dr. Anthony Bastianelli; and also the staff at Guardian Angels Health Care Center for their care of both Ron and Carol in the past few months.
Joint Funeral Services will be held at 4:30 pm. Saturday November 10, 2012 in the Dougherty Funeral Home with the Rev. Rene vanDyke officiating.  Visitation will be for one hour  prior the funeral service.
