Carole Marie Montcalm

Carole M. Montcalm, 67, lifelong Hibbing resident, died Friday, March 18, 2016, at Fairview Range Medical Center, Hibbing after a brief battle with cancer.  She was born in Hibbing on Sept. 16, 1948, to Vaino and Agnes (Skalsky) Lahti.  Carole graduated from Hibbing High School and later earned an associate’s degree in business management.  She worked for Bell Telephone, New England Panel, and for the last 19 years at Northwest/Delta Airlines in Chisholm.  She loved casino trips to play bingo, reading, and watching Jeopardy on TV.  She was an excellent cook.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, James P. Montcalm of Hibbing; a daughter, Jamie Montcalm of Hibbing; two sons, Patrick (Kiley) Montcalm of Minneapolis and Jay (Stacie) Montcalm of North Carolina; two brothers, George (Jan) Lahti of Hoyt Lakes, and Robert (Kenye) Lahti of Grand Rapids, MN; four grandchildren:  Alex Montcalm, Nolan Montcalm, Hadley Montcalm, and Addison Montcalm; and by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Carole was preceded in death by a daughter, Carrie Ann Montcalm; her parents; by two sisters, Renee DeBose, and Sandra Kay Flatum; and by a brother, William Lahti.

Visitation will be Tuesday March 22, 2016, at Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing, from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing.  To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.doughertyofhibbing.com .   The family requests that no flowers be sent.
