Caroline M. “Sister” Alms
Caroline M. Alms, 81, Hibbing, formerly of Keewatin died Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Guardian Angels Heatlh and Rehabilitation Center of Hibbing. She was born on March 16, 1932 to Joseph and Freda (Lobe) Mayerle in Keewatin, MN. She grew up in Keewatin, and after getting married, moved to Hibbing. A homemaker by trade, Caroline spent most of her life caring for her family, especially her husband Robert Alms, who she was married to for 60 years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 8510 of Hibbing, an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Hibbing along with their bible study. Caroline was a two time cancer survivor. She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, vegetables, and canning. She was very proud of her ethnic background.
She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Alms, her children, Lyle R. Alms, Gayle Alms, and Shelly (Ann Broussard) Alms, all of Hibbing, three grandchildren, Missy (Matt) Oscarson, Waconia, MN., Cathy Buus, Hibbing, and Jeremy Alms, Hibbing, four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Isaac, and Gavin Oscarson, and Caleb Buus, special nieces, Susan Smart, Lisa Mayerle, and special nephew, Dana Mayerle, special family member, Marcia Betters, of Hibbing, MN, special caregiver, Rhonda Aimonetti, special pets, Keno, Mattie, and Dorothy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Freda Mayerle, and two brothers, Donald and William Mayerle.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, September 27, 2013 at the First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Larry Quanbeck will officiate. Deacon Richard Johnston will co-officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
