Catherine “Kate” Carroll
Catherine “Kate” Carroll, 101, Keewatin, died Friday; August 31, 1012 in the Heritage Manor Nursing Facility in Chisholm, MN. She was born in Keewatin on Oct. 8, 1910 to John and Catherine (Ostarcevich) Marovich. She worked in the Keewatin School system & was a babysitter to many Keewatin children. A devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother & great-great grandmother, not only to the family but also to many neighborhood children. Her wit & wisdom was enjoyed by many. She has touched many lives and loved her family. She also enjoyed her gardens, playing scrabble, baking, crocheting and playing her harmonica.
She is survived by 9 grandchildren: Linda (Charlie) Grigal, Virginia, (Bruce) Johnson, Mike Carroll, LaVern (Jeff) Rice, Pat (Ana) Carroll, Laura (Bill) Wadd, Bob Carroll, Jacquie Carroll and Franee Carroll, 17 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John, 2 sons, John and Matthew Carroll, 3 grandchildren John, James and Matthew Carroll, 2 great grandchildren James and Dennis Rice, her brothers John and Joe Marovich and a sister Ann (Theodore) Damjanovich.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wed. Sept. 5, 2012 in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Nashwauk. The Rev. Dennis Hoffman will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
