Charles "Chuck" David Hansen, 90 years old, of Hibbing, MN, passed away peacefully at Northern Pines Nursing Home in Aurora, MN, on Thursday, June 6th, 2024. He was born the 8th of 10 children in Brainerd, MN, on May 31, 1934 to Charles G. and Henriette (Taylor) Hansen. Chuck served his country during the Korean War while enlisted in the United States Army. He worked as a brakeman on the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad in Iowa and as a miner in Climax located in Leadville, Colorado before he went on to a career of logging and farming as he enjoyed being self-employed. Chuck was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his loved ones. He always enjoyed going on fishing trips with family and friends and even made it to Alaska to charter fish with his sons.
Charles is survived by his children David Hansen, Donald Hansen, Darin (Stephanie) Hansen and Cindy (Jim) May, his significant other Lydia Carlson, grandchildren Barbara, Amanda, Chuck, Emily, Zaren, Leah, Darik, Isabella, great grandchildren Levi, Hazel, Eleanor and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Barbara Hansen, second wife Helen Hansen, daughters Debra Hansen, Kathleen Hansen, son Duane Hansen and nine siblings.
There will be a funeral service held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Hill City, MN. There will be visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing, MN, and also one hour prior to the service at church beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at the Macville Cemetery and reception at the Swatara/Macville Community Center.
