Charles R. “Ron” Kingsbury
Charles R. “Ron” Kingsbury, 79, Keewatin, died Wednesday September 5, 2012, at Guardian Angels Health Care Center, Hibbing. Ron was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Sept. 4, 1933, and attended school in his younger years in Milwaukee. He moved to Keewatin at the age of 14 for a few years, and then returned to Milwaukee for his senior year in high school, graduating from Riverside High School. After graduation, he moved back to Keewatin and attended Hibbing Junior College until being hired at Hanna Mining Company. Ron married Carol Kaminen at The Congregation of the Good Shepherd Church in Keewatin on September 11, 1954. He worked or 31 years as a supervisor for Hanna. After his retirement, Ron and Carol moved to Arizona in 1985. They resided in Queen Valley, AZ for 21 years, returning to Keewatin in 2006. Ron was a member of the Nashwauk Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. He was a worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star and a Job’s Daughters board member; the Democratic Chairman of Pinal County, AZ and a volunteer member of the Queen Valley, AZ Fire Department. Ron was also a member of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Posse, the Keewatin American Legion and the Keewatin Police Commission. He was very active with the Itasca County DFL.
Ron is survived by his wife, Carol Kingsbury, of Keewatin; a daughter, Colleen (Dan) Smith of Asheville, NC; 2 sons, Perry (Sherry) Kingsbury of Keewatin, MN and Andy (Lucy) Kingsbury of Cloverdale, MN; a brother, Tom Kingsbury, of Milwaukee, WI; a sister, Diane Tupper, of Ridgecrest, CA; 8 grandchildren: Amanda Kingsbury, Madeline (Keith) Melton, Samantha (Casey) Moberg, Raylene Kingsbury, Jon Warmbold, Darren Warmbold, Lindsey Kingsbury, and Luke Kingsbury; 3 great-grandchildren: Hunter Pierce, Brody Moberg, and Charlotte Moberg; a nephew, Evan Kingsbury, and his beloved dog, Midgie. Ron was preceded in death by a son, Charles Robert Kingsbury and by his parents, Charles D. and Avis Kingsbury.
