Claudia J. Modich

Claudia J. Modich, 79, lifelong resident of Hibbing, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Guardian Angels Health & Rehabilitation Center of Hibbing after a yearlong battle with cancer. She was born January 11, 1945 to James and Olga (Lubovich) Holmbeck in Hibbing. Claudia was an intelligent, caring, hard-working teacher and librarian in the Greenway school system. She was active in gardening, horseback riding, camping, hiking, blueberry picking and was an avid reader.

Claudia is survived by her son Frank Modich II, grandson Frank Modich III, brothers, Robert, Kenneth, and David Holmbeck, sisters, Judith and Jackie Holmbeck, numerous nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, Mike Modich, sisters-in-law, Phyliss and Sharon Holmbeck, and Anne Marie Reich.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Modich, mother, Olga Holmbeck, father, James Holmbeck, a brother Donald, and sister, Charlotte Holmbeck.

Interment for Claudia will be in Little Swan Cemetery with a celebration of life to be scheduled at a later date. The family is grateful to her caregivers and good friends. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. Gifts can be made to your favorite charity.
