Craig Anthony Anderson
Craig A. Anderson, 61, Hibbing died peacefully in his home on Saturday, February 21, 2015 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Craig was an avid sportsman. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping. His favorite place to be was at the cabin on Big Sturgeon Lake. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, bocce ball, and golf.
Craig was a machinist at Minntac for 37 years until his retirement. He was a loving family man. The loves of his life were his grandchildren, who gave him the will to live every day.
Craig is survived by his wife Marcy, his daughter, Ashley (Jake) Kaim, and his grandchildren, Hannah, Addy, Braylah and baby Kaim due in July. He is also survived by his mother, Lorita Anderson, siblings; James (Cathy) Anderson, Kathleen Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Kelly (Jim) Doescher, Lori (Jon) Haugh, and Lisa Anderson, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James Anderson and son, Jacob (Biggie) Anderson.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the Hospice staff for the care and support-we would not have made it without them. Their compassion made Craig’s last days as peaceful as possible. Craig has been fortunate to have many wonderful caregivers during his illness and we are thankful to each and every one of them. Thank you to Father Brian Lederer for his guidance and prayers. There are too many people who have helped us through this journey to list. We are truly grateful for all of the support. Craig was a generous, giving man and his last gift was the donation of his body to the University of Minnesota Medical School. The family requests no flowers please.
A celebration of Craig’s life will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Brian Lederer will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the noon Mass at the church on Tuesday. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
