Dale A. Greenly

Dale A. Greenly, 88, Hibbing, died Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.  He was born in Danforth Township, MN on April 28, 1927, to Tony and Blanche Greenly.  Dale served in the US Navy during World War II and had worked for Great Northern Railroad building bridges for 10 years, then as a driver for Standard Oil in Hibbing.  He retired from Drong Engineering in the late 1970’s.  Dale and his wife, Betty, lived in Kelly Lake for many years where Dale was known for sharpening ice skates on the machine he built.  Dale and Betty retired to their home on Happy Lake, where he enjoyed hunting, cutting fire wood, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Mike) Smalley of Florence, AZ; two sons, Joe (Kay) Gervais of Corvallis, MT, and Lonny (Sandi) Gervais of Hibbing; a sister, Ardis (Harold) Kendall of Isle, MN; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and by several brothers and sisters-in-law.  Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; by a daughter, Cheralyn Maturi; a son, Bennett Greenly; a son-in-law, Paul Maturi; by his parents; by sisters Thelma, Raye, and Berna; and by brothers Marvin, Bert, Lauren, and Merle.

Visitation will be Saturday January 16, 2016, at Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing, from 12 Noon until the 1 PM funeral service.  Interment will be made privately in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing, at a later date.  To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.doughertyofhibbing.com .
