Dana Cicmil Jatso
Dana Cicmil Jatso, 88, Hibbing, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Greenview Residence in Hibbing.  She was born in Carson Lake, MN on May 25, 1926, to John Sr. and Senia (Mazich) Cicmil.  Dana graduated from Hibbing High School, attended Hibbing Junior College, and had worked during World War II for the Rationing Board in Hibbing.  Later she worked as a secretary for Sachs Brothers Clothing Store and Nide’s Fashion Shop, both in Hibbing.  Dana retired from the City of Hibbing, where she was a secretary in the City Clerk’s office.  She was a member of St. Basil’s Orthodox Church in Chisholm and a founding member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church in Hibbing.  She volunteered at St. Michael’s from the early years when services were held in a Quonset hut, through construction of the current church, and for many years with church bingo as the construction debt was paid down.  Dana and Richard Jatso were united in marriage on Oct. 19, 1957, and they made their home in Hibbing.  Dana loved Tamburitza music and was a proud Montenegrin.  She and Richard joined Tony’s Iron Range Tamburitzans and the group played Tamburitza music in Duluth, all across the Iron Range, and at Iron World in Chisholm during Ethnic Days.  She and Richard traveled the United States to attend various Tamburitza extravaganzas, her favorite being the events held in Phoenix, AZ, where in the evenings she could listen to the music and gaze at the stars.
Dana is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard M. Jatso, of Hibbing; a son, Rick (Annie) Jatso, of Champlin, MN; three grandchildren:  Michael, Ryan, and Lily Jatso; three sisters:  Helen Bulat of Windsor, Canada, Zorrie Lux of St. Claire Shores, MI, and Georgia Cicmil of Honolulu, Hawaii; a brother, George (Anita) Cicmil of Side Lake, MN; and by numerous nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by infant twins, Joseph and Mary Jatso; by her parents; and by four siblings:  Nick Cicmil, John “Kitzie” Cicmil, Melva Karapanza, and Mike Cicmil.
