Darlene “Dusty” Daisy Farrell

Darlene D. “Dusty” Farrell, 86, longtime resident of Hibbing died
Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Guardian Angels Health & Rehabilitation Center in
Hibbing. She was born on September 27, 1936 to Earl and Mayme (Hamacher)
Metzer in Kego Township-Cass County, MN. She married Donald Farrell on
February 4, 1956 and they moved to Hibbing coming over from Nashwauk. Dusty
was employed as a telephone operator at the Hibbing Hospital. She also
volunteered with Guardian Angels and was a hospice volunteer for some time.
She enjoyed painting, crocheting, embroidery, bowling, walking, and was an avid
reader. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hibbing.
Dusty is survived by her children, Kathy (Frank Baratto) Farrell and Mike
(Lynn) Farrell, both of Hibbing, MN, sister, Margie Tillotson, Hibbing, MN, 6
grandchildren, Brandon (Shari) Unger, Hibbing, Jennifer Tobey, Hibbing, Brooke
Paranteau, New Orleans, LA, Kevin Lease, Jeremy (Kelly O’Connell), Aaron
Mattson, and Lisa Mattson, all of Hibbing, MN, her 8 great-grandchildren, Anika
Unger, Madison Wiggins, Brittany Male, Austin Male, McKayla Lease, Kayla
Mattson, Tim Jordan, and Shelby Wirtanen, two great-great-grandchildren, Freyna
Unger, and Fritz Kolden, along with three sisters-in-law, Doris Metzer, Detroit
Lakes, MN, Mudge Johnson, Pengilly, MN, and Pat Cafourek, Anchorage, AK,
three dear little ones, Kadenze, Malaya, and Brydon, and many nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald Farrell in 2017,
three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services for Dusty will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at
the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the
memorial service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Arrangements are with the
Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
