David R. Samson, 89, Hibbing died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 in his home. He was born on March 18, 1923 to David and Pearl (Larson) Samson in Hibbing. He was a lifelong resident of Hibbing. He graduated from the Hibbing High School. David served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He later owned and operated Samson Oil in Hibbing for 60 years. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. His pastimes included taking rides, working, and going for dinner with his best girl.
He is survived by his children, Carol Avalos, Huntington Beach, CA., Debbie Nordstrom, Hibbing, Roberta (Jim) McNamee, Coon Rapids, MN., and David Samson, Hibbing, his sister Betty Wallace, Galveston, TX., eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen, and two sisters, Lorraine Carlson, and Dar Hollen.
Funeral services for David will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, May 7, 2012 at the First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. The Rev. John Dietz will officiate. Visitation will be in Church from 11:00 am until the 1:00pm funeral service. Interment will be in the Grandview Memorial Gardens Columbarium. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
