Delores I. Ketola

Delores I. Ketola, 89, longtime resident of Nashwauk, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at Cornerstone Villa Nursing Home in Buhl, MN.  She was born on August 29, 1926, to Peter and Gladys (Rowneck) Apling in Osage, IA.  She was employed most recently with Leisure Hills in Hibbing as a Nurse’s Aide.  Delores had many pastimes including doing puzzles, playing cards, gardening, playing bingo, and she loved baking.  She waitressed at many restaurants over the years on the Range, and most of all she loved spending time on the family hobby farm.

She is survived by her seven children: Dan Roberts, St. Cloud, MN, Peter (Linda) Roberts, Milwaukee, WI, Tom (Paula) Roberts, Rosholt, WI, Rick Ketola, Faribault, MN, John (Valerie) Ketola, Nashwauk, MN, Kathy (Jeff) Harrington, Buck Lake, MN, and Mary Buck, Nashwauk, MN;  her sister, Bernice Kilpela, Duluth, MN; a brother, Alan Apling, Libby, MT; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, and two brothers.

Graveside services for Delores will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Nashwauk Cemetery in Nashwauk.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  The family would like to express their deep gratitude and appreciation towards the staff at Cornerstone Villa in Buhl for all of the wonderful care that was given to Delores over the past few months.
