Dennis A. Petron, 91, longtime resident of Hibbing, died Sunday, June 4, 2023 at The Waterview Woods in Eveleth, MN.  He was born October 8, 1931 in Hibbing.  After graduating from Cherry High School, Dennis proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Dennis resided in California for a brief time working as an aerospace technician. He would then move to Hibbing with Mary, his wife of 50 years, where together they built their home and raised their daughter.  Dennis was employed as a truck driver for Eveleth Taconite, and later oversaw maintenance at St. Leo’s School and Church in Hibbing until his retirement.  He was a member of the Hibbing Catholic Community, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.  Dennis loved to camp, especially at Trout Lake in Coleraine. He built models from scratch, including local businesses, landmarks, and a naval destroyer,  and created wood carvings of everything from animals to John Deere signs. He loved telling stories and giving hugs, and enjoyed going to the movies every week as a favorite pastime.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Petron, Hibbing, daughter, Kathy (David) Burleson, St. Paul, MN, and his two grandchildren, Mara and James Burleson.  He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.

Funeral services for Dennis will be 11:00 am, Friday, June 23, 2023 at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  The Rev. Fr. Bill Skarich will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home on Friday.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
