Derek Anthony Gingerich
Derek A. Gingerich, 24, Excelsior, formerly of Nashwauk died Monday, July 16, 2012 in Eden Prairie, MN.  He was born on June 27, 1988 to loving parents, Glen and Julia Gingerich in Grand Rapids, MN.  Derek attended Cloverdale Christian School in Nashwauk, MN., and then went on to achieve a Bachelor’s of Business at Crown College near the Twin Cities.  Derek was a stranger to no one and could rarely be seen without a giant smile on his face, or without good friends in tow.  He enjoyed spending time with his family at their lake cabin and loved nothing more than being in the presence of loved ones.  He was an active participant in four-wheeling, basketball, and more recently, training for long distant races.  He was loved very much by co-workers, friends from college and church, and left no one he came in contact with untouched by his sweet and exhuberant spirit.  Derek left his loved ones on July 16, 2012.  Derek was 24 years old and  the picture of health.  He died tragically by collapsing while going out for a short run after work near Eden Prairie, MN.  Derek will be deeply grieved, celebrated, and missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Glen and Julia Gingerich, Nashwauk, MN., his oldest brother, Kendall (Karen) Gingerich, Columbus, OH., their two children, Laney and Alex Gingerich, his second brother, David (Jana) Gingerich, Columbus, OH., and his older sister, Janice Gingerich, San Diego, CA.
