Donald Oren “Chum” Farrell
Donald O. Farrell, 83, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at home in Hibbing. He was born on June 9, 1934 to Owen and Flossie (Hanmer) Farrell in Hibbing, MN. He was employed as a truck driver for M.A. Hanna for 28 years retiring, and later he became the custodian for 1st Assembly of God Church in Hibbing. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and yardwork, especially mowing his lawn.
He is survived by his children, Kathy Farrell and Mike Farrell, both of Hibbing. Three siblings, Geraldine Kammermeyer, Pierz, MN, Mary Jane “Mudge” Johnson, Pengilly, MN, and Patsy (Bob) Cafourek, Arizona, five grandchildren, Brandon Unger, Hibbing, Jen Tobey, Hibbing, Brooke Parenteau, New Orleans, LA, Kevin Lease and Jeremy Lease, both of Hibbing, five great-grandchildren, his ex-wife, Darlene “Dusty” Farrell, Hibbing, MN, and many nieces and nephews, also Lynn Farrell, Hibbing, Aaron Mattson, Hibbing, Lisa Mattson, Hibbing, Shelby Lynn Mattson, Kayla Jordon, and Timmy Jordon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Flossie, three brothers, Jack, Tom and Owen “Bud” Farrell, and two sisters, Gwenith “Ginny” Thronson, and Sara Maki.
Funeral services for Donald will be 12:00 noon, Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. The Rev. Rod Tuomi will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30 am until the noon service at the funeral home on Tuesday. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
