Donald L. Haverkost
Donald L. Haverkost, 83, Hibbing, died Friday, March 6, 2015, in his home.  He was born in Coleraine, MN on March 9, 1931, to Theodore and Agnes Haverkost.  Donald served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Leah Timmerman in 1954, at Grace Lutheran Church and they made their home in Hibbing.  Donald worked for Hibbing Public Utilities, retiring as a gas service foreman.  He was a member and past trustee of Grace Lutheran Church, a member of American Legion Post 222 and AFSCME Union Council 65 and its retiree group.  Donald was an avid hunter and gardener and he loved country music and visiting with family and friends.  His family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Fairview Range Hospice for their care and kindness.
He is survived by his wife, Leah, of Hibbing; by seven children:  Calvin Haverkost of Hibbing, Cheryl Zebott of Florida, Karen (Sean) McMann of Austin, TX, Sandra (George) Degnan of Hibbing, Donald A. (Lisa) Haverkost of Avonmore, PA, David Haverkost of Hibbing, and Patrick (Jennifer) Haverkost of Corcoran, MN; by four siblings: Lawrence (Jean) Haverkost of New Jersey, Gerald (Sandra) Haverkost of Hopkinsville, KY, Marjorie (Jim) Giorgi of Mountain Iron, MN, and Vernon (Evie) Haverkost of Mountain Iron, MN; by 16 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; by a sister, Carol Haverkost; by a brother, Myron Haverkost; and by a great-grandson, Jacob Zebott.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Grace Lutheran Church, Hibbing, from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing.  Memorial may be made to Fairview Range Hospice or Grace Lutheran Church.  Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.  To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.doughertyofhibbing.com
