Donald L. “Mac” MacDonald
Donald L. “Mac” MacDonald, 84, lifelong Hibbing resident, died Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Hillcrest Alice. He was born in Hibbing to Henry and Harriet (Perkins) MacDonald on July 2, 1931. He had been an estimator for various companies, ending his career at Barr Engineering as their Senior Cost Estimator. He was an Air Force veteran having been stationed at Rhine-Main Air Force Base in Germany. He was a member of VFW Post 8510 and the Moose Club where he was a Past Governor. Mac was a member of Mesaba Lodge #255 A.F. & A. M. , Hibbing Lodge of Perfection, All Scottish Rite Bodies, and Aad Temple Shrine, Duluth. He was a proud member of Range Motor Patrol.
He will be missed by his two daughters, Barbara MacDonald and Sherry (Jim) Kirsch, both of Hibbing; 3 grandchildren: Michelle (Matt) Schleicher, Josh Dahle, and Cody Kirsch; one great-grandchild, Addison Mae; his sister, Grace Olsen, Hibbing; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mac was preceded in death by his wife, Naudeanne, in 2009; three sisters: Laura, Amy, and Jackie; and by a brother in law, Wilbert Olsen.
A Masonic service will be held at 1 PM Friday, October 2, 2015, in Dougherty Funeral Home, immediately followed by the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Rod Tuomi. Visitation will be 5—7 PM on Thursday in Dougherty Funeral Home and also for one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by Mid-Range Honor Guard.
