Dorothy Elizabeth Pickera
Dorothy E. Pickera, 106, Hibbing died Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing.  She was born on March 28, 1906 to Herman and Anna (Lehner) Vorgert in Albany, MN.  She was the second of their twelve children.  Dorothy entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Andrew Stuntebeck of Freeport, MN in 1925.  They moved to Keewatin in 1930 where she worked in their home as a full time mother and homemaker.  She enjoyed gardening, wild berry picking, knitting, sewing, crocheting and other crafts.
After the death of her husband Andrew in 1952, she became employed in the cafeteria of the Keewatin-Nashwauk School District.  In 1971, she retired and moved to Hibbing where she met Oscar Pickera.  They became close friends, were married in 1977 and lived a happy retired life in Hibbing.  Oscar died in 1989.  Dorothy was active at the Seniors Center, enjoyed playing cards, dancing and crafts.  She was a member and supporter of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.  In 1995, Dorothy moved into the Lee Center where she lived for 16 years before moving to Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She is survived by her sister, Florence Loso, St. Joseph, MN., her son, Gerald Stuntebeck, Hibbing, 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Andrew Stuntebeck and Oscar Pickera, daughter, Elizabeth Landman, sons, Arnold and Eugene Stuntebeck, sisters, Monica Brandt, Leona Davis, Edvina Jones, Susan Althaus and Marian Cichy, and her brothers, Roman, Alfred, Alois, Ervin, and Walter Vorgert.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.   The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  Visitation will then continue from 10:00am until the 11:00am funeral Mass at the church on Saturday.  Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
