Douglas C. Urbick
Douglas C. Urbick, 75, longtime resident of the Iron Range area died Sunday, November 5, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. He was born on May 31, 1942 to Clifford and Rose (Verzich) Urbick in Hibbing. Doug proudly served his country with the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Korea. He later was employed with Hanna Mining, National Steel and retiring from U.S. Steel as a foreman. Doug was a member of the American Legion Post 307 in Nashwauk for 52 years, and MA Hanna Company Salaried/Supervisory Retiree Club of Minnesota. He enjoyed going to casino’s, hunting and fishing and was also a sports fanatic.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Urbick, two grandchildren, Deion Harris and Amaiyah Robinson, his aunt, Betty Verzich, cousin, Robert Verzich, and dear companion, Georgann Zakrajsek.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Natasha Urbick, and his parents, Clifford and Rose (Verzich) Urbick.
Per Doug’s request, a private memorial service will be held at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing at a later date. A spring interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
