Edith Glee Nelson
Edith Glee Nelson, 88, Pengilly, died Tuesday October 2, 2012, in her home. She was born on Dec. 26, 1923, in Clarissa, MN to Edwin and Ellen Johnson. Edith graduated from Clarissa High School in 1941, and was united in marriage to Darrell Nelson on Oct. 3, 1942. They made their home in Pengilly, residing there for over 60 years. Edith served as the clerk of Lone Pine Township for 40 years and was a longtime employee of Evergreen Industries. She was an active member of Nashwauk Lutheran Church, the East Side Neighbors and enjoyed her family above all else. She specialized in making the perfect brownies for her grandchildren and keeping her family warm with the beautiful quilts she crafted.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell, in 1987; son-in-law, Jim Gaspersich, in 2010; her parents and an infant brother. She is survived by five children: Dean (Shirley) Nelson of Pengilly, Janet Gaspersich of Hibbing, Larry (Pam) Nelson of Pengilly, Joe (Rita) Nelson of Big Lake, MN and Lori (Randy) Arko of Elk River, MN; two sisters: Elouise Clementson of Wilmar, MN and Grace (John) Huddelston of Anoka, MN; 11 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
