Edmund “Ed” J. Majkrzak

Edmund J. Majkrzak, 81, Nashwauk, formerly of Minnetonka, MN., died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Essentia St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN.  He was born on May 3, 1930 to Jacob and Catherine (Worwa) Majkrzak in Northeast Minneapolis.  He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.  He entered into the sacrament of Marriage with JoAnne Mangen on December 29, 1951.  He had been a resident of Nashwauk for the past 3 years, coming from Minnetonka, MN.  He was a member of the VFW Post 425 of Hopkins, the Ridgedale morning walkers, and his local coffee group.  Ed enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, creating rock gardens, flower gardens, landscaping, and building birdfeeders which coined him the name; “Eddie”, the birdman of Minnetonka.
Ed is survived by his wife of 61 years, JoAnne Majkrzak, Nashwauk, MN., son, William (Patricia) Makozak, Maui, HI., daughter, Mary (Mel) Mickelson, Nashwauk, six grandchildren, Carrie (Andrew Elj) Mickelson, Nashwauk, Abbie (Tim Vogtlin) Mickelson, Hibbing, Alicia Mickelson, Nashwauk, MN., Marcie (Todd) Dobmeier, Northfield, MN., Heather (Neil) Stolp, Chisholm, MN., and Winter Mickelson, Bovey, MN., seven great-grandchildren, Trace, Kelsie, Brooke, Sierra, Morgan, Dayna, and Raven, his two sisters, Stella Sikora, Minneapolis, MN., and Gladys “Peewee” Bogucki, Minneapolis, MN,, sister-in-law, MaryAnne Majkozak and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joe, and two sisters, Emily and Julie.
Funeral services for Ed will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk.  The Rev. Fr. Dennis Hoffman will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Tuesday.  Interment will be in the Nashwauk Cemetery in Nashwauk, MN.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
