Edwin Eugene Hofferbert

Edwin E. Hofferbert, 83, Kelly Lake, died Saturday, October 15, 2016, in his home.  He was born in Almora, MN on May 23, 1933, to Edwin and Myrtle (Haines) Hofferbert.  Ed served in the US Army and later worked for Precon, retiring as a foreman.  He was united in marriage to Dorothy Booen on Oct. 26, 1957, in Wrightstown, Minnesota.  Ed and Dorothy enjoyed camping and fishing together and were members of the Good Sam Club.  Ed was also an accomplished woodworker who made beautiful birdhouses.  He was active at the Wilpen Community Center and he enjoyed country music and snowmobiling.  A dedicated family man, Ed kept his loved ones at the center of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Kelly Lake; three daughters:  Donna (Kevin) Bautch of Hibbing, Dana (Lenny) Rivera of Colorado, and Vicki (Kevin Timmerman) Zaitz of Hibbing; by eight grandchildren:  Miranda (Jake) Ridlon, Chris (Moneque Loberg) Bautch, Jeffrey Zaitz, Andy Peterson, Ashley (Isaac) Hudson, Kirsten Peterson, Mikayla Rivera, and Christopher Rivera; by eight great-grandchildren: Blake Zaitz, Skyler Zaitz, Gunnar Hudson, Arizona Ridlon,  Caroline Ridlon, Everly Stocker, Kassidy Warmbold, and Trista Warmbold; by a brother, George Hofferbert of Washington state; a sister, Alice Ritter of Miltona, MN; a brother-in-law, Ralph Jahnke, of Parkers Prairie, MN; and by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; by brothers Clarence and Donald Hofferbert; and by his twin sister, Etta Jahnke.

Visitation will be Monday Oct. 17, 2016, at Dougherty Funeral Home Hibbing, from 12 Noon until the 1 PM funeral service.  Private interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northstar Hospice.  The Hofferbert family would like to extend special thanks to the staff and nurses of Northstar Hospice, especially Bobbie Radaich, for the wonderful care they provided for Ed.  To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.doughertyofhibbing.com .
