Eileen M. Kannas

Eileen M. Kannas, 90, lifelong resident of Nashwauk, MN, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012 in Grand Rapids, MN.  She was born June 30, 1922 in Nashwauk to Patrick and Angeline Schullo.  Eileen married Harry G. Kannas on Sept. 28, 1946.  They made their home in Nashwauk where she dedicated her life to her family and home.  She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, the VFW Auxiliary and the Italian American Club.
She is survived by her daughter and son Jeanne and Barry Nelson of Nashwauk, her grandchildren Christopher Nelson of Nashwauk and Lisa (Larry Jr.) Tanner of Hill City, MN and 6 great grandchildren; Madeleine Nelson, Abigail Nelson, Harry Nelson, Frank Nelson, Lukas Tanner and Landyn Tanner.  She was preceded in death by her husband Harry in 2004 and a sister Phyllis Beliveau this past year.
Funeral services will be held Mon., Dec 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Nashwauk.  The Rev. Dennis Hoffman will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be in the church from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday.  Burial will be in the Nashwauk Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.
