Elaine Doris Munter

Elaine Doris Munter, 92, Hibbing, died Monday March 14, 2016, at Virginia Care Center in Virginia.  She was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Swede Grove Township, MN to Will and Bertha Thomsen.  After high school, Elaine worked in Seattle for Boeing Aircraft during World War II.  She was united in marriage to Bernard “Bun” Munter on Sept. 26, 1948, and they made their home in Hibbing.  Being born and raised on a family farm, Elaine was a lifelong, avid gardener.  She loved watching football, working on her crafts and needlework projects and baking.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith (James) Povich of Sartell, MN and Bobbi (James) Farr of Hibbing; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Mark) Allen of Eden Prairie, MN and Jessica (Dain) Carlson of Tofte, MN; a great-granddaughter, Audrey Allen; two sisters, Helen Schmit and Marie Gillman; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, in 2008; by a daughter, Donna Munter, in 1986; by her parents; and by two brothers, Willard and Donald Thomsen.
