Elaine Katherine Saccoman

Elaine Katherine Saccoman, 89, Hibbing formerly of Pengilly died March 17, 2018 at her residence in Hibbing.  She was born in Avon, MN to Benedict and Lauretta (Ashenbrener) Schmid on December 11, 1928 and  married Richard Saccoman on December 27, 1951.  She had been formerly employed at the Hibbing General Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Elaine loved baking, sitting In the sun and her animals.  She volunteered her services with Hospice,  the homeless  shelter in Grand Rapids, and at other various organizations. Elaine was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, AA, St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk and the former St. Kevin’s Catholic Church in Pengilly.

Elaine is survived by her children, Paul Saccoman, Boise, ID, his 3 children and 7 grandchildren, Kathy (Bill) Kramer, Larkspur, CO, and her two children, Tom (Jayne) Saccoman, Omaha, Neb., and his 3 children and 5 grandchildren, Sue (Jeff) Burich, Spearfish, SD, and her four children and 4 grandchildren, Mike (Pauline) Saccoman, Grand Rapids, MN, Joan (Ross) Niskanen, Pengilly, and her 3 children and 6 grandchildren, and John Saccoman, Ramsey, MN, and his four children and 3 grandchildren, her brother, Roger (Bobbi) Schmid, Avon, MN, and her many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Richard Saccoman, brother, Charles Schmid, and granddaughter, Holly Orhn.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am. Saturday, May 5, 2018 in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Seth Gogolin celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be in church for one hour before Mass.  Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing.
