Elberta Christenson

Elberta Christenson, 86, lifelong resident of Hibbing, peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family, on Thursday April 4, 2019.

She was the daughter of John and Esther (VanCamp) Poirier. She lost both of her parents at a young age and was loved and raised by Ernie and Gladys Lance.

Elberta was married to the love of her life (Rudy) on April 5, 1952, and they had 5 beautiful children.

She spent her life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and servant of God. Her family was everything to her. She loved knitting, crocheting, and spending time outdoors, doing anything from yard work, hunting, fishing, camping, to simply relaxing in the sun or going on a long motorcycle ride. She and Rudy were very active members of their church, the Gold Wings, as well as a volunteering at the Salvation Army, and a member of the auxiliary of the Hibbing VFW.

Elberta will be remembered as a loving, selfless, and devoted person.

She is survived by her sister Jeanette (Chickie) from Loganville,GA; her children Ross (Karen) Christenson, from Eau Clair WI; Rodney (Jean) Christenson from Casper, WY; Ranee (John) Jones, from White Pigeon, MI; Rick (Tammy) Christenson, from Side Lake, MN; and Rochelle (Bill) Guzbaddo, from Eveleth, MN ; her grandkids Tammy (Shawn) Downs; Bruce Christenson; Kindl (Andrew) Guddeck; Justin (Brittany) Roth; and Cody Christenson, several great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Rudolph (Rudy), her sisters Betty, Joyce, Esther (Happy), and brother Gordon Poirier.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm. Tuesday April 9, 2019 in the Open Door Church, 12025 Correy Tracts Rd., Hibbing, with visitation starting at 12:30 pm.  Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing.
